Assessments
When new students arrive in Concord and indicate on their Home Language Survey that there is another language spoken at home, we are required to further assess their language to determine if they require direct language instruction from the ELL teacher. For new Kindergarten students, we use the WIDA MODEL K assessment, and for all other grades we use the W-APT (WIDA Access Placement Test) assessment. Both of these assess Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.
Students who are identified as ELL students are required to take the annual language assessment in January called ACCESS 2.0. Scores from this assessment are sent home with the final report card in June.
