Alcott Newsletter
May 2024

I hope this newsletter finds everyone doing well.  Somehow, the end of school sneaks up on me each and every year.  This year is certainly no different – I am genuinely in disbelief that we only have three full weeks and a partial week left before summer vacation!

In this month’s newsletter, you will find information on the last day of school, progress reports, lots of upcoming activities and more.

Last Day of School: The last day of school for students is Thursday, June 13th and is a half day.  This is one day later than the original calendar due to a snow day.  Please note that there is no Concord Recreation after school program on the 13th.

Progress Reports: Progress reports will be posted on the parent portal on June 13th.  Once posted, reports are available on the portal for approximately one month, but can be downloaded and saved as .pdf files.  You can access the Parent Portal here. A link to request a password reset can be found at that site or you can email parentportal@concordps.org.

Spring Fair: The Spring Fair is coming up on May 23 (rain date May 24), to be held during the school day. The Spring Fair is organized by the 5th graders to raise money and provide a fun morning out in the sunshine for the lower classes. The 5th graders will be designing games and activities, and there will be a raffle and used book sale. Tickets are on sale now on the PTG website HERE through Monday May 22 at noon and can also be purchased at the fair with cash.

Field Day: Field day is right around the corner as well!  This beloved event, coordinated by Mr. Gaudreau and made possible through the volunteer efforts of parents, is taking place on May 29th (with a rain date of June 5th).  Students will be outside for an extended period of time so make sure to put sunscreen on in the morning and send them dressed appropriately for whatever the temperature will be.

Arts Night: Arts Night is taking place on May 29th. This event showcases the 5th Grade Art Retrospective and 4th/5th Chorus Concert. Come walk the gallery halls on the first floor from 5:30-6:00pm to see all of the 5th grade art on display.  5th grade’s stop motion animation videos will also be playing in the art room on loop. At 6:00pm, the Alcott Chorus will perform in the auditorium. We hope you’ll be able to join us!

Visitors in the Building: As we near the end of the year, the opportunities for visitors and/or volunteers increase and for that we are very grateful.  We truly enjoy having families in the building.  However, I just want to remind everyone that, if you are here for an event or to volunteer, the expectation is that you report directly to the location where you have indicated in the main office that you are doing and that you leave directly when you are done.  This is for the safety and security of all students and to minimize disruptions to learning.
